Windows Insiders Can Now Share Files between Their iPhone and PC

Windows 11 Phone Link iPhone file sharing

A new Phone Link update that’s now rolling out across all Insider channels will let Windows 11 and Windows 10 users share files between their PC and iPhone. This file-sharing feature already works with Android phones, and iPhone users will need to download the Link to Windows app from the App Store to make it work.

Microsoft’s Phone Link app added support for iPhones last year, and it currently lets iPhone users send and receive text messages, make and receive phone calls, and see contacts and iPhone notifications right from their PC. With this new file-sharing feature, they will now be able to share a file from their iPhone to their PC and vice versa.

File sharing between Windows PCs and iPhones requires iOS 16 or higher and a PC that supports Bluetooth Low Energy. Insiders who haven’t already paired their iPhone with Phone Link will be able to set up file sharing during the app’s setup process.

After pairing their iPhone to their Windows PC, iPhone users will be able to share files with it by tapping the share icon, choosing “Link to Windows,” and then selecting their PC. Sharing a PC file to the iPhone can be done by right-clicking the file, selecting “Share,” and choosing “My Phone” (or “Phone Link”).

Windows notification showing a file sent from your iPhone has been received.

For Windows Insiders on the Canary Channel, Microsoft has also just released the preview build 27764. It brings various features previously introduced on other channels such as Jump list support for apps pinned to the Start menu
